Artzai Gazta has been present in Alimentaria, the 40th edition of the International Food and Beverage venue, held in Barcelona from the 25th to 28th April. In this edition, Joseba Insausti´s Otatza cheese from Ordizia (Gipuzkoa) has received the “Best Cheese of Spanish Food 2015” award. It is a contest organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA), with the aim of promoting cheeses of higher quality and better organoleptic properties; and encouraging producers to make cheeses of high quality that can compete in a wide and demanding market.
Leveraging its assistance to Alimentaria, Artzai Gazta presented Euskadi-Basque Country International Cheese Festival to producers, distributors and other professionals in the food, gastronomy and beverage industry, holding meetings to close synergies that help develop the festival and to shape their program.
The new edition of Alimentaria 2016 has brought together the food and beverage industry in the main biennial event in the sector. The event was focused on innovation and internationalization of the food industry. The meeting has met expectations and achieved to record 140,000 visitors.
“The event has established itself as a great platform for the export of Spanish food industry as well as an important showcase for innovation in the sector and new trends that are emerging in the market”, said the president of Fira Barcelona and Alimentaria, Josep Lluís Bonet, in a note.
With a fully professional vision, Alimentaria, offers attendees the opportunity to attend technical presentations, meetings between professionals and increase business opportunities. In the meeting area, they have gathered 4,000 exhibitors from 78 countries, which have shown their products to 140,000 registered visitors, including 800 foreign high-level buyers invited by the organization.
The fair was divided into different areas among which are Interlact, the showcase reflecting the strength of a sector that combines tradition and craftsmanship with technological and nutritional advances of the first order. In addition to Spanish producers, firms from Ireland, UK, Luxembourg, France and Italy, among other countries were also exhibiting. Interlact is a unique opportunity to learn by firsthand the principal dairies, where Artzai Gazta wanted to be present.
Within Interlact is the activity “Spain, the country of 100 cheeses” which turns 20 and is entirely dedicated to the wide range of Spanish milk cheeses made by small businesses. A major exhibition and tasting of more than 200 cheeses made from milk microenterprises, and accompanied by all kinds of breads, raw vegetables, fruits and suitable companions (jams, honey, quince, etc.) and paired with a wide range of Catalan wines and beers craftswomen, without limitation.
Within Interlact there is the activity “Spain, the country of 100 cheeses” which turns 20 and is entirely dedicated to the wide range of Spanish milk cheeses made by small businesses. A major exhibition and tasting of more than 200 cheeses made from milk microenterprises, and accompanied by all kinds of breads, crudités, fruits and suitable companions (jams, honey, quince, etc.) and paired with a wide range of Catalan wines and craft beers, without limitation.
