3.000 cheeses from the 5 continents and a wide variety of activities, ingredients of the most important cheese festival in the world

Pablo Basterra, president of Artzai Gazta; Eneko Goia, mayor of Donostia / San Sebastián; Ainhoa Aizpuru, Economic Development, Rural and Territorial Balance Deputy; Bittor Oroz, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy of the Basque Government; Luisa Villegas, director of the festival and Yayo Galiana on behalf of the Basque Culinary Center presented the program of Euskadi-Basque Country International Cheese Festival at an event held in San Sebastian Food.

On 16, 17 and 18 of November, the cheese will be the in the city of Donostia / San Sebastian, where the Euskadi-Basque Country International Cheese Festival will be held, organized by the association Artzai Gazta. An unprecedented event that will bring us the cheese culture for three days. The festival will begin with the international competition of world’s most prestigious cheese, “World Cheese Awards”, which will award the prize for the best cheese in 2015. The festival will gather in Donostia a variety of more than 3000 international cheeses, a wide representation of craft cheese processors and 250 judges, coming from 5 continents.

A program full of activities will fill the city with the most gourmet surrounding the cheese sector: chefs, expert cheese maturers, distributors, experienced judges … but without doubt, the big players will be the small artisans producers, who have managed to move this event for the first time from Britain to Euskadi. Their presence in all international awards, awarded prizes and their work in the sector, innovation, respect and care for nature, and passion towards their work have made this, our land, worthy to host this great international competition that surrounded by numerous activities has given way to a more interesting festival.
